We're Pregnant!!

So...beating cancer wasn't enough for one year, we had to go and get pregnant too. We've officially been "trying" for two months. Does it really happen that fast? A friend of mine told us which days to "try" and after following said advice - we created life.

I took the test while visiting San Francisco this past weekend. It was horrible to have to give Rene this wonderful news over the phone (as he has been in Dallas on business for a couple of weeks). My friend Sabrina was there to witness the pee stick. The rest of the weekend was spent telling all my friends and family from back home the great news.

This year has been such an insane rollercoaster. It was exactly yesterday 11/15 last year that I first noticed my lump. I joked earlier this year that I found and beat cancer in less time than a pregnancy. Well, I guess its my chance to prove that.

For any of you that may be worried about my health. I am feeling FANTASTIC! I've actually never felt better. Rene had wanted to make sure that we had approval from the doctor prior to starting this journey. I had a PETscan in September that proved clear of any signs of cancer (yippee!) and we asked if we could get pregnant. The doctor said that normally he would like his younger patients to wait 2 years but since I was right at that age (after 35 poses a lot more health risks to me and the baby) so he said he couldn't see why there would be any reason to not get pregnant. I have another scan scheduled for January but we will have to do an MRI instead since we don't want to create any mutant X-men with the radioactive injection with the PETscan.

Heather!
This is so amazing, Heather!! I can't tell you how grateful I am to the universe that that you are having a baby! During your cancer, I actually had a dream about this very miracle, and finding out that you were pregnant. It was really emotional, but I never told anyone because I didn't want to jinx it. I'm so happy that it came true! I hope for you an amazing, spiritual, healthy, delightful next 8 months and beyond! (:

Motherhood is such an amazing thing! You will be a terrific Mom Heather. Hopefully our kids won't be troublemakers like we were! :)
Bring on the morning sickness.......

Hang onto your hats, we're flying that car through the sky again...only this time it's with pure Unadulterated JOY!!! Once again I have to say the experience of the last year has been such excellent preparation for what comes next - you've both grown incredibly - sure that growth didn't always look so smooth but hey, it never does, does it?? I love you both, and I love that you're on this journey together. Committment deepens and the true stuff of love emerges! I'm starting to feel baby girl vibes but I'll keep you posted.
love you guys!! mama-mackin
